Peaches’ quantum solace

She’s not just into trendy indie bands and New York thrift stores, you know. Yes, in a new documentary, Peaches Geldof has let slip some of her highbrow interests.

"You know what I'm intrigued by?” she tells Fearne Cotton in Fearne And... tonight’s new ITV2 fly-on-the-wall documentary. “Stephen Hawking's theories and Richard Dawkins' theory. That's what I care about. I want to talk about the Hadron Collider.”

"I've always been really interested in quantum theories and how we came to be and why. That's how, I guess, I got involved in spirituality and the religious path I chose to go down."

And what path is that, Peaches? Well, apparently, the 20-year-old is now a Scientologist.

"I've been one for a while now,” she reveals. “It's like, I was confused about what path to go through and I feel like I needed a spiritual path and I was looking at different things.

"I felt I was lacking something when I didn't have a faith. In the end, all it's about is making yourself a better person. My father says anything that makes me feel like a better person and makes me happy is good."

Righto. By the way, this is the episode in which the young star falls asleep quite a lot. Fearne seems to quite respect Peaches’ ability to nap, though.

"She hasn't got that base level of politeness or etiquette,” says Fearne. “If she wants to fall asleep, she does. If she doesn't want to do something, she won't. I kind of admire that."

If Peaches ever needs a spin doctor, she’ll know who to call…
